Access and trail reports

Lower approach brushed

Brush was cleared from the first kilometre along the old logging road on August 2,2026. The report does not cover the unmarked summit continuation.

Reports describe the cited dates. An expected reopening date does not establish reopened access.

Follow the first kilometre of old logging road, then climb the forest trail into the upper bowl. The former forestry-cabin site lies roughly 6 km from the start near 1,770 m elevation and provides the turnaround for this shorter outing. The cabin is no longer present, so it is not an emergency shelter or reservable accommodation. Returning from the bowl avoids the separate unmarked summit extension.

1. Getting there and parking

From Prince George, follow Highway 16 east for roughly 167 km to Goat River Forest Service Road, beyond the Goat River rest area. Turn right and continue approximately 1.2 km to the old spur road on the left, where the hiking approach starts. Park clear of the forest road and identify the trail sign before leaving the vehicle.
