1. Getting there and parking
From Valemount, follow Whiskey Fill Road south toward Canoe Forest Service Road and the marina signs. At the West Canoe Forest Road fork, turn right and continue to approximately the 15 km marker; the trail begins just before that marker. The local guide recommends high clearance and warns about active logging. Follow road signs and any radio requirements, keep the travelled road clear, and do not bring an RV or trailer up an approach with limited turning space.
- From Valemount, take Whiskey Fill Road south toward Canoe Forest Service Road, following marina signs.
- At the West Canoe Forest Road fork, turn right and continue to just before the 15 km marker.
Parking: The signed start is just before the 15 km marker on West Canoe Forest Road. Keep the working road clear and allow room to turn.
Road and vehicle: High clearance is recommended. The active logging road has limited turning space; the steward advises against taking RVs or trailers up it.
Drive from Prince George: 317.1 km · approximately 293 minutes. Estimate; allow for road conditions and stops.
Modeled one-way driving time from Prince George City Hall, using mapped road speeds. Forest-road sections can take substantially longer: surface, clearance, radio procedures, gates, washouts, plowing, and legal access are not verified by the router. No live traffic or invented forest-road multiplier is included. Allow extra time and check the dated access notes. Main-lookout approach only; waterfall-base branches remain closed, and the route has a winter avalanche closure.
2. Walking the route
Follow the cleared trail through the slide-alder area to the rocky main lookout above the glacier-fed waterfalls and Kinbasket Lake. The main viewpoint outing is about 1.2 km return and roughly 100 m of climbing; several short sections are steeper than the overall distance suggests. The local guide’s August 2026 update says the main route had largely been cleared after a major avalanche, but muddy, damaged and slippery sections remained. Stay on the main lookout route: the separate rope-assisted branches down to waterfall bases were still closed in that update.

- Stop at the main lookout. The separate rope-assisted waterfall-base branches remained closed in the August 2026 update.
The return
Return on the main lookout path. This is the 1.2 km return option; closed upper/lower base branches are not part of it.
Mapped outing: Aloha signed trailhead → Aloha main lookout → Aloha signed trailhead. 1.5 km measured along the mapped line; published trip measurements may differ.

How the route order was checked
The named Aloha trail begins13m from the local guide’s trailhead and ends exactly at a mapped viewpoint on the main cleared approach. The local guide distinguishes this return lookout outing from the closed rope-assisted waterfall-base branches. Only the named main Aloha source line is used.
