Amanita Lake recreation site

https://hikingprincegeorge.com/hikes/amanita-lake-recreation-site

A small tent-friendly lake campground on the Upper Fraser forest-road network, with a swimming beach and dock.

1. Getting there and parking

From the Highway 16 turn onto Upper Fraser Road about 16.5 km east of Prince George, continue roughly 63 km to the single-lane Fraser River bridge. Cross the bridge and use the McGregor road connection to North Fraser Forest Service Road, also called Church Forest Service Road. The camping directory places Amanita Lake about 6 km along North Fraser/Church from that junction. Confirm current road signs and conditions before the final forest-road leg; the directory’s two-wheel-drive description applies only when conditions are suitable.

  1. From Highway 16 about 16.5 km east of Prince George, turn onto Upper Fraser Road.
  2. Continue about 63 km to the single-lane bridge. After the crossing, keep left along McGregor FSR for about 2.5 km to North Fraser (Church) FSR.
  3. The published site approach continues about 6 km along North Fraser FSR.

Road and vehicle: The directory describes ordinary 2WD access; that is a general road description rather than a current road inspection.

2. At the campsite

The recreation site provides access to the lakeshore, small swimming beach and dock. This record is for a lake visit or overnight camp, rather than a measured hiking circuit around the lake. Set up in the established site and use the developed shore access; the reviewed directory does not describe a signed walking network, lifeguard service or a continuous lakeside trail.

5. Camping, facilities and seasons

Camping and tenting

The recreation-site directory lists nine sites with picnic tables and fire rings beside the small lake. It does not establish a reservation system or current fee.

Toilets

Two pit toilets are listed.

Season and access

The access description is for suitable road conditions and does not establish winter maintenance. Snow, spring thaw and forestry activity can change the final gravel-road approach; obtain a current local road update before setting out.

Dogs

The directory lists the site as dog friendly; check posted control rules.
