A forest path follows the Cheslatta River corridor to a cliff-side waterfall viewpoint. The destination is an exposed edge above moving water, making this a more consequential outing than its short distance suggests.

1. Getting there and parking

From Vanderhoof follow Kenney Dam Road to the dam, cross it, and turn right onto Holy Cross Forest Service Road. The district places this turn around the 97 km point of the approach; continue approximately 11 km and follow signs for the falls. Logging traffic uses Holy Cross FSR. These are published approach distances rather than a current road inspection, so check industrial access and road conditions before committing to the long drive.

  1. Follow Kenney Dam Road across the dam, then turn right onto Holy Cross Forest Service Road.
  2. Continue about 11 km and follow the waterfall signs. The road is used by logging traffic.

Road and vehicle: The final approach uses Holy Cross FSR. The district specifically warns about logging traffic.

2. Walking the route

From the signed start, follow the diamond-marked path through pine forest along the ridge above the river. The route bends around to finish beside Cheslatta Falls at a cliff edge. Return by the same trail. The district lists 1.2 km one way and allows roughly two hours for the outing; short distance should not be confused with a quick or low-risk walk. Both the footpath and viewpoint can be slippery when wet. Keep well back from the edge; the municipal description specifically advises that the route is unsuitable for young children and pets.

  1. Follow the marked pine-forest path along the ridge above the Cheslatta River to the cliffside waterfall view.

The return

The district gives 1.2 km one way. Retrace the path for approximately 2.4 km total.
