Access and trail reports
Difficult brush and deadfall on reported approach
A September 19, 2026 report describes dense brush and deadfall on the ascent and a muddy approach road. This is a dated observation.

Reports describe the cited dates. An expected reopening date does not establish reopened access.
A demanding bushwhack to Clout’s western summit, with a steep forest approach followed by alpine meadows and mountain terrain.
1. Getting there and parking
The September 2026 account places the approach on Walker Creek Forest Service Road at approximately 25 km, using an overgrown old logging road heading east toward the mountain. The old road provides only about 1.5 km of initial access before the bushwhack. The source does not publish a precise parking point or a trail track, so this is not a verified signed trailhead or a route suitable for navigation-app directions.
2. Walking the route
Beyond the old logging road, the ascent is a very rough bushwhack through fallen timber, alder and devil’s club, with cliffs requiring route selection. A first high bump leads into more open meadows and upper terrain, but there is no maintained path connecting those features. The report’s completed objective is the western summit, reached beyond the first false summit and meadows. The higher/main Clout peak is a separate climbing objective and must not be substituted for that endpoint. The roughly 12 km return and 1,370 m gain describe one difficult trip, not an established trail standard.
3. Route map
Published locations only. A complete route line is still needed.
5. Camping, facilities and seasons
Camping and tenting
The trip author describes possible open bivouac ground near the first high bump and later meadows. This is an observation of terrain, not a designated campsite, booking or permission statement; facilities and a dependable water supply were not documented.
Season and access
The only detailed account reviewed is from September 2026. Wet brush, muddy road access, snow and low visibility can make the already difficult route substantially worse. No marked winter alternative was established.
Practical details checked 2026-10-17.
Measurement notes
12 km and 1,370 m refer to the reported western-summit outing.
