loop
A short interpretive loop combines Vanderhoof’s museum grounds, Stoney Creek and a wooded slope above the Nechako valley. It makes a compact town walk with a creek lookout and mixed forest.
1. Getting there and parking
Start at the Vanderhoof Community Museum site, one of the signed access points for the town’s community trails. The municipal trail description uses the museum as both start and finish. Obtain the local trail card from the visitor centre if combining this loop with the wider town network; nearby Stoney Creek and riverside paths are separate routes.
Parking: Start at the Vanderhoof Community Museum site; this is the access identified by the district.
2. Walking the route
Follow the broad gravel trail from the museum through the Stoney Creek corridor, then climb the valley side and return toward the museum to complete the 1.25 km loop. Look for the creek viewpoint and interpretation along the way. Although the district describes the route as wheelchair accessible, it also notes a moderate elevation change; assess the grade and gravel surface for the person or equipment using it. A longer walk can connect with other community paths, but those extensions are not included in the 1.25 km loop.
- Follow the broad gravel path through the museum grounds and along Stoney Creek.
- Climb the valley-side portion and follow the signed loop back to the museum.
The return
The named museum circuit is about 1.25 km. The district describes it as wheelchair accessible, while also noting elevation change.
