Kosta’s Cove provides a lakeshore walk at the north end of Ten Mile Lake, with forest sections and places to pause beside the water. The regional district distinguishes the gentle shoreline portion from steeper forest portions where some visitors may need assistance. Benches, an accessible outhouse, picnic facilities and a shelter make it useful for a shorter outing with rest stops.

1. Getting there and parking

Approach Ten Mile Lake on Highway 97 north of Quesnel and turn onto Bjornson Road for Kosta’s Cove. The district’s driving description places the turn about 12.4 km north of its downtown highway reference point, with the park on the right after the turn. Use the picnic area at the lake’s north end as the starting point. This is a different access from the provincial park day-use lot and campground farther around the lake.

Parking: Use Kosta’s Cove on Bjornson Road at the north end of Ten Mile Lake, separate from the provincial-park entrance.

2. Walking the route

From the picnic area, follow the trail beside the northern shoreline, then use the posted map to decide whether to continue into the forest sections. The lakeshore portion has the easier grades; the forest route includes steeper ground. Choose the turnaround to match the group’s mobility and use the benches for breaks. An accessible designation does not mean the entire network has the same slope, and the district does not supply measured grades or an exact branch-by-branch distance in the reviewed description.

  1. From the picnic area, follow the path north beside the lake.
  2. The continuing forest section is steeper than the shoreline. Decide whether to continue based on the group’s mobility.

The return

The district does not publish a complete measured loop. Retrace the chosen accessible section if the forest continuation is unsuitable.
