Pass Lake recreation site
https://hikingprincegeorge.com/hikes/pass-lake-recreation-site
A very small gravel-shore campground at the north end of Pass Lake, near the McGregor and Torpy mountain approaches.
1. Getting there and parking
Leave Highway 16 on Upper Fraser Road, cross the single-lane Fraser River bridge and continue onto the McGregor forest-road system. The camping directory places the recreation site at the north end of Pass Lake around road kilometre 39. Check the current kilometre signs and access branch locally rather than routing directly to a lakeshore point. Road condition and industrial traffic can affect the time needed for this approach.
- Take Upper Fraser Road from Highway 16 about 16.5 km east of Prince George. Continue roughly 63 km to the one-lane bridge.
- Cross the bridge, then turn right and next left onto the McGregor FSR approach. The site is listed near road kilometre 39 at the north end of Pass Lake.
2. At the campsite
The site provides lake access and a possible overnight base for separate mountain outings in the corridor. It is not the Farm trailhead, the Fang trailhead or an established walking circuit around Pass Lake. Choose the individual hike guide for its access and current conditions; in particular, the June 2026 Fang rockslide closure is a separate restriction that camping nearby does not bypass.
Location map
Government recreation-project geometry is an overview reference. It may contain branches or historic alignments; current access and a continuous navigable itinerary are not established.
Published locations
Numbered points match the map. Use the role beside each point. A summit or park reference point is not a parking location.

5. Camping, facilities and seasons
Camping and tenting
Two basic lakeside campsites are listed. Nearby Farm Cabin and Fang Mountain approaches are separate routes; camping here does not establish that those trails are currently open.
Toilets
The recreation-site listing identifies pit toilets, with no flush facilities stated.
Season and access
The directory does not establish a maintained winter approach. A camping listing is not a current road report, so confirm the forest-road conditions before planning an overnight or an early mountain start.
Dogs
Listed as dog friendly; posted rules still apply.
Practical details checked 2026-10-17.
