The meadow area around 1,670 m is the turnaround for the shorter outing. The club lists roughly 18 km for this option, while the 2,296 m summit requires a longer extension. Return over the same creek crossing; no alternative bridge was established.
1. Getting there and parking
From Highway 16 east of Prince George, turn onto Ptarmigan Creek Forest Road and follow it about 5 km to the fork. Keep right and continue approximately 200 m to Ptarmigan Creek. Published distances from Prince George differ between guides, so use the named road and current park access information. The creek crossing near the start is a major unresolved access hazard, not a routine bridge crossing.
