About Northward

Northward helps residents and visitors plan hikes, forest walks, waterfall stops and cabin trips around Prince George and the wider northern BC region.

Research you can trace

Northward brings together land-manager information, local trail organizations, published trip reports and reusable mapping. Each guide links its sources and distinguishes research dates from field observations. A source review does not mean someone from Northward recently walked the trail.

Our selections are editorial starting points, not a measured ranking of visitor popularity. We do not invent ratings, firsthand experience or missing measurements.

Routes have boundaries

A park, a trail network and a specific return hike need different planning information. We keep route options separate, explain when a measurement covers only part of an outing, and identify gaps in access or mapping. A map pin does not establish a navigable trail.

Photographs and reuse

Photographs retain their photographer, original source and reuse terms. Northward uses authentic destination imagery without people. Surrounding-area photographs are labelled as context and are not evidence that a particular trail or cabin is shown.

Before you leave

Roads, bridges, weather, closures and booking arrangements can change after research. Read the selected route’s access notes, check the linked land manager and take suitable navigation with you. Offline packs preserve available information; they do not update after download.

Free to use

Northward is a free community resource. No account is required, and the public guide does not offer personal journals or photo uploads.
