Your planning preferences

The explorer remembers filters in your browser and can place them in the page address so you can share a search. No Northward account is required. Clearing site storage removes saved browser preferences.

Download counts

Northward records daily totals of successful GPX and offline-guide responses by destination, route and download type. These counters do not contain names, visitor IDs, IP addresses or raw search queries. A response count is not a count of unique visitors or completed hikes.

Traffic and performance

Cloudflare Web Analytics measures aggregate visits and page performance without analytics cookies or local-storage identifiers. See Cloudflare’s explanation of its analytics. Ordinary hosting and third-party service logs are governed by their providers.

External services

Maps, weather, source websites and driving-direction links use outside services. Opening or loading those services sends ordinary network information to their providers. Downloaded trip packs explain which external resources remain online.
