Notice or observation: April 5, 2025 · Source checked October 17, 2026 · Caledonia Ramblers (opens original source)A longer section of the Nuxalk-Carrier Grease Trail follows the Blackwater escarpment before turning into forest. The kilometre references identify a heritage-trail segment rather than driving distances or a ready-made loop.

A reusable trail line has not yet been verified for this outing. Any location pin shows the published location described above; it does not draw the hike or establish a navigable approach.
Use the Blackwater Recreation Site approach: Highway 16 west approximately 9.4 km from the Highway 97 junction, then left onto Blackwater Road for about 70.8 km. At the recreation-site trail information, identify the westbound heritage-trail continuation rather than the eastbound canyon loop. The source’s title refers to heritage-trail kilometres 32–47, not a road turn at either of those markers.
Estimated drive from Prince George: 1 hr 15 min. Source-published estimate of 75 minutes each way, referenced to the Highway 16 / 97 junction approach. The observation date is unstated; current forest-road travel conditions and elapsed driving time have not been verified.
Map position: 53.28902, -123.14019 · published approach recreation site; precise trail entrance unverified. RSTBC REC1155 Blackwater River Crossing source point; Ramblers explicitly specifies the same Blackwater recreation-site approach as its Blackwater Canyon route. Follow the westbound heritage corridor along the escarpment. The description places about 13 km on the escarpment before the route trends northwest into forest and reaches a logging-road crossing at heritage-trail kilometre 47. A shorter day walk should use an explicit turnaround; reaching the distant road crossing does not provide a loop or an arranged ride back. The source gives up to 15 km for this segment but labels the outing there-and-back, leaving the full walked-distance basis unclear. Plan conservatively and verify the intended endpoint on a map. A dated April 5, 2025 clearing report does not establish current conditions throughout this longer corridor.
