A local forest outing from the Pilot Mountain neighbourhood, described for hiking and snowshoeing. The available trip report provides a start and recorded distance but very little detail about internal junctions.

A reusable trail line has not yet been verified for this outing. Any location pin shows the published location described above; it does not draw the hike or establish a navigable approach.
Getting there & parking
The published start is at the end of Christina Road in the Pilot Mountain area. Confirm that the current entrance is public and park without blocking driveways, gates or emergency access. Do not substitute the separate gated Pilot Mountain summit-road entrance: these records start at different places.
Map position: 54.00393, -122.85412 · source-linked road-end approach point (parking and legal access unverified). The article’s directions anchor supplies Google Maps destination=54.003925,-122.854116, matching the written Christina Road-end start. The separate origin coordinate is Prince George and was not used. This point is a source-published approach, not confirmation of current public access or legal parking.
On the trail
The retained report describes a moderate outing whose effort depends on how far you travel and includes a recorded 4.39 km trip with 50 m of ascent. It does not establish a standardized 4.39 km loop or give a reliable sequence of turns through the forest. Use the original map to identify the intended route and return connection before leaving the road; avoid following an arbitrary branch because it heads toward the canyon. Winter use is reported, but a snowshoe label does not establish grooming, current access or safe conditions at any steep edge. A fuller route guide still needs verified junction information.
Terrain: forest.
Distance and elevation source notes
A separate December 27, 2025 report describes a roughly 6 km extended south loop; it is not interchangeable with the 4.39 km panel.
Conditions & seasons
Season-specific access has not been established in this guide. Read the dated notices and original land-manager information before choosing a departure date.
Historical connector report describes heavy deadfall
An October 25, 2025 exploratory connection from Pilot Mountain through the canyon toward the river encountered dense brush and deadfall. This concerns that connection, not a current closure of the canyon outing.
These are dated research notes. Open the trip planner for current available weather and advisory feeds; no alert found does not establish that a trail or road is open.
On-route camping permission has not been established for this outing. Check the relevant land manager before planning an overnight stay; a mapped lake, cabin or previous tent location does not confirm permission.
