Tagai Lake recreation site
A semi-remote lakeside camping area reached along the Pelican forest-road system. The final approach branches from the resource road, so a precise road reference matters more than a generic lake pin.
Sources reviewed . This is a research date, not a trail inspection.
The locations GPX contains sourced points with their recorded roles. It contains no trail track or connecting route.
Site map
A reusable trail line has not yet been verified for this outing. Any location pin shows the published location described above; it does not draw the hike or establish a navigable approach.
Getting there & parking
From Highway 16 about 9 km west of the Highway 97 junction, turn onto Blackwater Road.
After about 21 km, turn right onto Pelican FSR. At Pelican kilometre 64.1, turn right onto Tagai Road.
After approximately 1 km on Tagai Road, turn right and continue about 1 km to the site.
Full access notes
From the Highway 16–97 junction drive about 9 km west, turn left onto Blackwater Road and continue approximately 21 km to the right turn onto Pelican FSR. At the Pelican 64.1 km reference, turn right onto Tagai Road. After about 1 km, turn right again and continue roughly another kilometre into the site. The listing also describes a more complex Bobtail-road alternative, but the Pelican sequence is the clearer published approach. Verify current road names, signs and industrial traffic before travel.

At the campsite
Use the designated lake camping area and gravel boat launch. The source lists eight units in a semi-open setting, with pit toilets and tent camping, and describes the usual approach as suitable for two-wheel-drive vehicles. That general description does not establish current surface condition after storms or during breakup. No separate marked hiking loop or measured trail gain is published for this campsite. If using it as a base for regional hikes, plan those drives and trailheads independently rather than assuming a path leaves directly from the lake.
Conditions & seasons
Season-specific access has not been established in this guide. Read the dated notices and original land-manager information before choosing a departure date.
These are dated research notes. Open the trip planner for current available weather and advisory feeds; no alert found does not establish that a trail or road is open.
Camping & overnight plans
Eight rustic sites are listed, with tent camping, pit toilets and a gravel launch. Current fees, opening and drinking-water availability should be checked through RSTBC.
