Getting there & parking
From Highway 97 at McLeod Lake, approximately 141 km north of Prince George, take the Carp Lake park access road. The main campground is about 32 km from the community. The gravel road is narrow in places, with tight corners, rough surfaces and industrial traffic. Spring breakup can make it unsuitable for some cars or trailers; check current conditions rather than relying only on the approximate two-hour drive quoted by BC Parks. Start at the main campground trail information rather than the War Falls entrance near the eastern side of the park.
Map position: 54.82341, -123.34928 · main campground reference at Kettle Bay; precise entry unverified. OSMway543991419 maps KettleBayCampground on CarpLake; BC Parks identifies main campground and interpretive loop departing there. Campground reference, not exact trail start or driveway. Replaces broad park map centre previously used.
On the trail
Use the signed interpretive loop linking the campground, Rainbow Lake and the McLeod River.
Follow the marked return to the campground rather than adding an unverified historical-trail continuation.
Full route notes
Follow the signed loop from the campground toward Rainbow Lake and the McLeod River, using the interpretive panels and wet-area bridges to stay on the designated route. BC Parks describes a roughly 3 km outing with access to river fishing locations and information about local plants, animals and history. The path incorporates part of a much older Indigenous travel corridor. Return on the marked loop to the campground rather than following the shoreline or an unverified historical continuation. Lake and river access points may have wet footing; bring drinking water and use only an appropriate licence and current rules if fishing.
The way back
BC Parks describes this campground circuit as about 3 km. The Drumlin Bay trail and War Falls are separate outings.
Conditions & seasons
Spring breakup can make access road unsuitable; winter services unavailable.

Camping & overnight plans
