Heart Lake campground
A user-maintained lakeside campground in Pine Le Moray Park, useful as a base for a quiet lake stay or a separately planned steep mountain outing. Its services differ from a fully staffed provincial campground.

Site map
A reusable trail line has not yet been verified for this outing. Any location pin shows the published location described above; it does not draw the hike or establish a navigable approach.
Getting there & parking
Use the signed Heart Lake access from Highway 97 in Pine Le Moray Park, northeast of McLeod Lake and southwest of Chetwynd.
Full access notes
From Chetwynd follow Highway 97 toward Prince George for about 72 km, then turn left onto the gravel approach to Heart Lake Campground. From Prince George, approach the same signed campground through Pine Pass. The walking start is beside or opposite campsite 13, on the east side of the campground road. Use an appropriate visitor parking area and avoid occupying a reserved campsite simply to access the trail. Campground opening and overnight rules must be checked separately with BC Parks.
Map position: 55.49605, -122.56379 · published in-camp trail sign near campsite 13; campground entrance unverified. Trip report explicitly locates the trail sign at Heart Lake Campground opposite campsite 13 with GPS 55.49605,-122.56379. Official BC Parks page confirms the Heart Lake campground. This is a sourced point within the campground, not its vehicle entrance or a bookable campsite coordinate. It replaces the broad Pine Le Moray park reference point.
At the campsite
Choose an authorized camping place and check the current partner/operator arrangements on the BC Parks page before setting up. The lake supports paddling and fishing, while the trail near campsite 13 climbs to Mountain Creek viewpoints and then, much less clearly, toward Solitude Mountain. Those are strenuous separate routes, not a flat campground nature loop. BC Parks describes the wider park as having no developed hiking network and asks visitors to be self-reliant. Respect occupied campsites when approaching the trail and keep vehicles off the walking entrance. Horses are not permitted in the Heart Lake campground or day-use area.
Terrain: alpine.
Conditions & seasons
Season-specific access has not been established in this guide. Read the dated notices and original land-manager information before choosing a departure date.
These are dated research notes. Open the trip planner for current available weather and advisory feeds; no alert found does not establish that a trail or road is open.
Camping & overnight plans
Heart Lake is a user-maintained campground managed with a community partner. Confirm current fees, opening, site availability and services directly from the park’s current listing; do not assume the staffing or facilities of a standard full-service campground.
