Elevation profile

A full-route elevation profile is not available yet.

A reusable trail line has not yet been verified for this outing. Any location pin shows the published location described above; it does not draw the hike or establish a navigable approach.

Getting there & parking

Use the Upper Torpy forest-road approach from Pass Lake Road to the high road access east of Pass Lake. BC Parks describes the final approach through a logging block to the southern park boundary. This short upper start is distinct from the older lower-road Torpy outing and from the separate Torpy Mountain summit start farther east. Confirm the actual road end and access condition before assigning a distance.

Map position: 54.06446, -121.37436 · start point of published trip track (parking unverified). Embedded trip-map feature 'Torpy Track 5/4/24 8:46:42 AM': first recorded coordinate [-121.374359, 54.064465]. Point extracted from the original public trip map. A track start is evidence of where recording began, not certification of parking, legal access, road suitability or the complete route.

On the trail

From the high forest-road start, follow the short Torpy trail into the small alpine lake basin in Evanoff Park. BC Parks gives about 1.5 km for the trail segment, without a return-distance basis; that figure does not include lower road walking or a mountain summit. The wider basin offers meadow and ridge terrain, but continuing over Fang or toward Torpy Mountain is a separate route-finding undertaking. Creek crossings and wet ground are reported in the area. Stay on the marked basin approach for this short option and return to the same road start.

Terrain: alpine.

Conditions & seasons

Snow and meltwater can linger on the basin and ridge routes. Evanoff has avalanche terrain and ground fissures; a summer short-trail description does not establish a safe winter itinerary.

Grizzly activity in Evanoff Park

A park notice updated April 28, 2026 identifies regular grizzly activity, including family groups. BC Parks advises travelling together, making noise and carrying bear spray. This notice is not a trail closure.
