Approximate terrain elevation. Mapped distance may differ from the published hike distance.
Map and elevation sources
Approximate ground elevation from a 90 m terrain model. Distance follows the mapped itinerary and may differ from published walking distance. This is a terrain-model profile, not a surveyed measurement. Any ascent total is identified separately with its own source or estimation method.
Retained public trip-map facts independently identify Summer Trailhead and Summit. The named licensed OSM Boulder Mountain Trail begins15m from the former and ends54m from the latter, also32m from a separate summit-view observation. These establish the ascent direction and summit extent. Returning on the same described approach gives a complete summer outing.
From Prince George, follow Highway 16 east for roughly 167 km to Goat River Forest Service Road, beyond the Goat River rest area. Turn right and continue approximately 1.2 km to the old spur road on the left, where the hiking approach starts. Park clear of the forest road and identify the trail sign before leaving the vehicle.
Estimated drive from Prince George: 2 hr 24 min · 173.4 km. Modeled one-way driving time from Prince George City Hall, using mapped road speeds. Forest-road sections can take substantially longer: surface, clearance, radio procedures, gates, washouts, plowing, and legal access are not verified by the router. No live traffic or invented forest-road multiplier is included. Allow extra time and check the dated access notes.

Named access waypoint extracted from the original public trip map. Current road/parking conditions and legal access still require checking.

On the trail
Walk the old logging-road section for about the first kilometre, then climb the established trail through open forest into a bowl around 1,770 m elevation. The former forestry-cabin site lies about 6 km from the start; it is a waypoint, not a remaining shelter to rely on. From the bowl, the summit extension climbs another approximately 1.6 km to the 2,091 m peak, with no marked trail in the alpine. Choose the bowl or summit as the turnaround in advance and record the point where the forest trail enters the open ground. The full published summit outing is roughly 15 km return and 1,200 m of gain. A dated August 2, 2026 report says the initial old-road section was brushed out.
Terrain: steep ascent · unmarked alpine route.

Source comparison: Boulder Mountain summit; 15 km; 1200 m ascent; 6–8 hours duration; approximately return scope. This is another description of the main outing, a duplicate endpoint, an unscoped source claim, or a related facility.
Conditions & seasons
The alpine summit line is unmarked and can be difficult to relocate in snow or cloud. The dated brushing report applies to the first road section, not a guarantee of all-season access or marking above treeline.
Lower approach brushed
Brush was cleared from the first kilometre along the old logging road on August 2,2026. The report does not cover the unmarked summit continuation.
These are dated research notes. Open the trip planner for current available weather and advisory feeds; no alert found does not establish that a trail or road is open.
Wilderness camping is allowed inside West Twin Park, but BC Parks identifies no developed overnight facilities along Boulder Mountain Trail. The historic upper-bowl cabin is no longer present.
