Mapped named trail. The named source line totals about 1.35 km. It does not identify the exact turnaround of the separately published 300 m wetland-viewpoint outing. Line source (opens original source).
Follow Highway 52 southeast from Tumbler Ridge along the route locally known as Boundary Road or Heritage Highway East. The Flatbed Creek Forest Recreation Site is on the right about 33 km from town, immediately before the road begins a series of switchbacks. Use the recreation-site entrance for the short creek walk.
Map position: 54.92561, -120.74772 · recreation site / trail access. Official RSTBC Flatbed Creek recreation-site position. The municipal2018guide calls brochure39 Flatbed East at33km southeast of town with wetland/paddling access. WNMS Boundary Road page calls brochure39 Upper Flatbed Creek at the same33km recreation site and describes the same300m wetland-viewpoint trail; this supports the historical alias match. Flatbed East is the historical guide name; current WNMS calls the hike Upper Flatbed Creek. Marker denotes the recreation-site access, not a surveyed trailhead.
Follow the short creekside path south to the bench between two spruce trees overlooking the wetland.
From the recreation site, follow the short path south beside Flatbed Creek for about 300 m to the bench and viewpoint between spruce trees. The upstream creek broadens into wetland habitat. This record describes the short viewpoint walk; the steward discusses exploring farther upstream by canoe or kayak, not a verified continuous hiking trail around the wetland. Return on the same path to the recreation site.
The detailed description gives 300 m to the viewpoint, or about 600 m when retraced. The same page’s one-kilometre headline is less specific; upstream canoe exploration is additional.
The detailed steward description gives 300 m from the recreation site to the viewpoint, so this short path is approximately 600 m when retraced. Its broader headline says 1 km return; walking within the recreation site or farther exploration is not measured by the 300 m path.
Season-specific access has not been established in this guide. Read the dated notices and original land-manager information before choosing a departure date.
