Long Lake

A short forest walk reaches a promontory beside narrow Long Lake, with marsh habitat toward its eastern end. This is a lakeside visit with a same-path return, rather than a circuit around the lake.

Getting there & parking

  1. At the Redwillow recreation-site junction about 78 km from Tumbler Ridge, turn right off Boundary Road and cross the river.

  2. Keep left at the fork after 1 km, then continue 2.6 km to the parking area on the left.

Full access notes

Follow Boundary Road about 78 km southeast from Tumbler Ridge to the major junction by Redwillow Forest Recreation Site. Turn right, cross the Redwillow River and keep left at the fork about 1 km farther on. Continue another 2.6 km to the signed parking area on the left, approximately 3.6 km from Boundary Road. The access road carries industrial traffic; follow current radio signs and park fully clear.

Map position: 54.94871, -120.19698 · recreation project location. Source-published recreation project point; not verified parking or trailhead.

On the trail

  1. Walk north on the short path to the lakeside promontory.

Full route notes

Walk the short trail north from the parking area for about 270 m to the promontory on Long Lake. The narrow lake stretches roughly a kilometre along the valley, but the documented hiking path is only the short access to the shore, not a complete lakeside circuit. Return on the same path. Watch from a distance for swans using the marsh at the eastern end and avoid disturbing nesting birds.

The way back

The detailed text gives about 270 m to the shore, whereas its headline says 1 km return. Neither describes a complete circuit around the kilometre-long lake.

Conditions & seasons

Camping & overnight plans

The trail description does not identify an overnight campsite on the promontory. Redwillow recreation site is a separate road-access location near the turnoff; confirm its current operation before using it for an overnight stay.
