Follow the old highway alignment about 3 km to the historical ranch clearing.
View the deteriorating buildings from outside and leave objects where they are.
Walk the old Monkman Pass highway alignment for approximately 3 km to Kruger’s Flats, then return the same way for about 6 km total. This is a mostly level historic route to the site of a 1930s mink ranch, where deteriorating cabins and other remains survive. Leave structures and objects undisturbed and view unstable buildings from outside. ATVs share the route, and short wet sections can persist in wetter years; step aside where sightlines are limited.
Return over the same track, approximately 6 km in total. The route is shared with ATVs and has some wet sections.
The trail can be wet in rainy seasons even though the grade is gentle. The retained guide does not document a maintained winter route or verify the structural safety of old cabins.
These are dated research notes. Open the trip planner for current available weather and advisory feeds; no alert found does not establish that a trail or road is open.
The old cabins are heritage remains in disrepair, not bookable accommodation or verified emergency shelters. No designated campsite was established by the trail description.
