Moore’s Meadow Park Trail

Wooded paths descend into a glacial kettle and open meadow within the city. Several entrances and connecting trails make it easy to vary the walk, with a climb back out at the end.

Sources reviewed . This is a research date, not a trail inspection.

9.5 km of trails

The published measurements describe the wider trail network. Your walk’s length and climbing depend on the trails you choose. The notes below describe the available walking options.

A full-route elevation profile is not available yet. The mapped paths have not been verified as one continuous outing.

Getting there & parking

The principal entrance is on Foothills Boulevard, approximately 1 km south of the Nechako River. Begin from a signed park entrance and note which access you used: several neighbourhood paths feed into the same meadow. The published 1–3 km outing choices describe selected loops, while the wider park contains more than 5 km of paths.

Map position: 53.93059, -122.81397 · civic park address. Official published civic address matched exactly by BC Address Geocoder; not verified trailhead or parking. Park location marker for orientation; not a source-published parking point or trailhead. Neighbourhood park existence does not establish a named hiking route.

Walking options

Descend from the rim through the wooded slope into the meadow, then choose a connecting path or loop suited to the time available. The descent is the main change of grade, and you will regain that height on the return. There are several branching paths rather than one prescribed circuit. The meadow is a designated off-leash area, but that should not be extended automatically to every approach or adjacent street; follow the posted boundaries and keep dogs under control around wildlife. Wet ground, snow and ice can make the sloping entrances slippery even when the flatter meadow feels straightforward.

Conditions & seasons

Usable for walks and winter outings, with particular care on the descent into the kettle: the source identifies slippery slopes in wet or snowy conditions.

Camping & overnight plans

On-route camping permission has not been established for this outing. Check the relevant land manager before planning an overnight stay; a mapped lake, cabin or previous tent location does not confirm permission.
