Elevation profile
A full-route elevation profile is not available yet.
A reusable trail line has not yet been verified for this outing. Any location pin shows the published location described above; it does not draw the hike or establish a navigable approach.
Getting there & parking
The September 2026 account places the approach on Walker Creek Forest Service Road at approximately 12 km, using an overgrown old logging road heading east toward the mountain. The old road provides only about 2 km of initial access before the bushwhack. The source does not publish a precise parking point or a trail track, so this is not a verified signed trailhead or a route suitable for navigation-app directions.
Map position: 53.77500, -120.80028 · official named mountain reference point (not a trailhead). BC Gazetteer exact feature: Holy Cross Mountain, mapsheet93H/15, 53 46 29 N, 120 48 01 W, datumWGS84. This is the named mountain reference location, not parking, a hiking start or a verified summit approach. The trip report’s northern summit may differ from this general named-feature point. The same-named mountain west of Prince George at mapsheet93F/14 is a different feature.
On the trail
Beyond the old logging road, the ascent is a very rough bushwhack through fallen timber, alder and devil’s club, with cliffs requiring route selection. A first high bump leads into more open meadows and upper terrain, but there is no maintained path connecting those features. The upper north-shoulder approach reaches a boulder field and an exposed scrambling section before the northern summit objective. The report describes sections requiring hands as well as feet; this is not a normal marked hiking trail. Its roughly 16 km and 1,469 m gain are measurements from one trip, not a promised safe alignment.
Terrain: bushwhacking · steep terrain · scrambling · exposure.
Distance and elevation source notes
Source statistics describe the reported outing, published September 28, 2026.
Mapped route and current trailhead access are not established.
Conditions & seasons
The only detailed account reviewed is from September 2026. Wet brush, muddy road access, snow and low visibility can make the already difficult route substantially worse. No marked winter alternative was established.
These are dated research notes. Open the trip planner for current available weather and advisory feeds; no alert found does not establish that a trail or road is open.
Camping & overnight plans
The trip author identifies flat ground near the first high bump or adjoining meadows as possible overnight terrain. That is a personal trip observation, not a designated campsite, verified water source or blanket camping permission. An overnight requires an independently assessed location and a self-sufficient plan.
